WHAT: The Canadian Opera Company presents “Centre Stage.” Drama, decadence, and grandeur – experience A Night at the Opera with the Canadian Opera Company, as we celebrate a powerful and transformative evening of the art form like never before. 
The main event is the Ensemble Studio Competition, an exhilarating vocal showcase of singers who are vying for cash prizes while aspiring to secure an invitation to the COC Ensemble Studio, Canada’s leading training program for young opera professionals. 
Finalists from across the country perform from the mainstage, accompanied by the internationally acclaimed COC Orchestra conducted by COC Music Director Johannes Debus—an extraordinary atmosphere for both spectators and artists

WHAT: The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra presents “Tyzik conducts Tyzik.” The program begins with Bernstein’s On the Town: Three Symphonic Dance Episodes. These brief, snappy numbers are compiled from the show On the Town, bound to have audiences tapping their toes in continued celebration of the 2018–19 Bernstein Centennial! 
The program continues with Tyzik conducting two of his own compositions: The Jazz Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, featuring Concertmaster Juliana Athayde, made its world premiere in 2016, and Images: Musical Impressions of an Art Gallery, written based on artwork Tyzik selected in commemoration of Memorial Art Gallery’s 100th Anniversary, and was premiered in 2016

WHAT:Opera Atelier presents Actéon and PygmalionActéon – the story of the young hunter turned into a stag – and Pygmalion – the story of a beautiful statue magically brought to life – are transformed into riveting operatic masterpieces in the hands of Charpentier and Rameau, two of the greatest composers in French music history.
